Full Description
Design, develop and test innovative Large Calibre weapon systems, as well as modify or upgrade existing products to enhance performance or resolve obsolescence issues. Delivered products must balance performance, safety, manufacturability, reliability, maintainability and cost, requiring the weapon engineer to collaborate closely with various organisational stakeholders. The weapon engineer will have to utilise egineering software to create models, assemblies, detailed drawings as well as perform simulations. Typical tasks includes: Study of requirement or task prior to commencement of design Present design concepts for design review and discussion Assess the design based on performance, safety, manufacturability, reliability and maintainability Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise the performance, efficiency, and safety of large calibre weapon systems Conduct feasibility studies and simulations to evaluate and validate design concepts Assist in the preparation of technical documentation, reports, and presentations Participate in prototype builds, weapon integration, performance testing and analysing of data from tests Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during weapon development and testing phases Stay updated with the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory standards related to large calibre weapon systems Requirements Bachelor's/Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related field Experience in mechanical design preferred Basic competency in using relevant engineering software and simulation tools (e.g., Unigraphics, SolidWorks, MATLAB/Simulink, AMESIM, etc.) is a must Having understanding on implementation of mechatronics design will be an added advantage Able to provide clear analysis to substantiate design Knowledge in drafting, geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) preferred Able to read and interpret fabrication/mechanical/assembly drawings and electrical/hydraulic schematics Strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders Willing to perform hands-on work in the workshop/on the weapon system Willing to travel overseas
