RESPONSIBILITIES

About

The Children and Youth Group (CYG) in The Salvation Army Singapore serves hundreds of vulnerable children and youth yearly. In line with our vision to provide a continuum of care to uplift those in need, our services span from preventive services, foster care and residential services to reunification support services for vulnerable children returning to their natural families after being removed due to safety concerns. We believe that every child is precious and unique and children grow best in families. We also believe in the potential of every child and family to transform and thrive.The Salvation Army, Children and Youth Group - Gracehaven is a residential home for children and youths who require care, protection and rehabilitation due to risk behaviours and a lack of parental supervision.We aim to help children and youths reintegrate back into their family and society  through an array of holistic programmes and activities specially designed to cater to the well being of each individual person. At Gracehaven, a team of professionally trained social workers work towards building holistic and individualized care plans that are tailored to meet each person’s needs.

About the job

As a member of Gracehaven Social Services Team, you are expected to provide effective Case Work Services for children, youth and their families. To partner with the different professionals to deliver high quality of care to meet the diverse needs of children and young persons entering the residential service. To ensure that the emotional, social, behavioural, developmental, therapeutic and educational needs of clients are met during the client's stay in the Home. You will need to support the Manager in guiding and ensuring work delivery in the Service and observance of Standard' of Care, Social Work practice and ethos.

 

Job Description 

  1. Case Work Management 
  • Effective use of therapeutic approaches and other intervention strategies to stabilize and regulate emotions of clients.
  • Ensure behaviour support management strategies are in place to effectively manage challenging behaviours of clients.
  • Be trauma-informed in the management of cases.
  • Be able to work with both young people and their family members. 
  1. Community Resources and networking
  • Establish close working partnership both internally (The Haven, Gracehaven, IPAC and residential program team and volunteers) and other stake holders so as to maximise community resources and support systems. 
  1. Service Development 
  • Advocate and represent the rights, needs and welfare of Clients through official platforms, to address service gaps, concerns or issues that will promote and enhance the service delivery for beneficiaries. 
  1. Professional Development 
  • Promote professional development through identifying learning needs, transfer of skills and knowledge and offer training where appropriate. 
  1. Administration 
  • Complete all necessary documentation for all clients including admission forms, discharge summaries and other ongoing case records. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or Graduate Diploma in Social Work from a recognized university
  • Accredited as Registered Social Worker with SASW.
  • At least 1-2 years in direct social work is preferred.
  • Experience in working with children and youths and their families
