Responsibilities:

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the MRO & Tactical Procurement team in delivering high performance and operational excellence
  • Assist in coaching, grooming and supporting the growth of the team in their development, learning and day to day procurement activities
  • Collaborate with the Procurement Manager to implement strategic direction and long-term goals for the MRO & Tactical Procurement function
  • Help build and maintain strong supplier relationships to manage supply risks and improve service levels.
  • Participate in tenders and direct negotiations to establish regional frame contracts with selected suppliers, with focus on Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) and Production Consumables categories, e.g. equipment spare parts, materials require on time-based etc to support various mill procurement operations.
  • Work closely with mill operations teams in APAC to support projects that analyze key MRO categories and identify cost-effective alternatives.
  • Provide support in resolving issues between contracted suppliers and the mill operation / procurement teams, particularly issues relating to quality, delivery, payment terms, handling process etc.
  • Conduct spend analysis on categories assigned, aiming to improve procurement productivity (e.g. establish new frame contract to enable PO automation), to consolidate spend for better bargaining power, and to minimize contract leakage (purchase from non-contracted suppliers, or materials not being included in the frame contracts yet).
  • To perform other ad-hoc activities when assign by reporting manager.
  • Able to perform duties independently with minimum supervision and always maintain the highest standard of integrity being a procurement professional.
  • The role will be based in Singapore, supporting a lean team and reporting to the MRO Procurement Manager.

Requirements

  • Possess good knowledge and practical experiences in negotiating with suppliers to achieve favorable pricing and contract terms especially for sole supplier situations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to support both strategic initiatives and tactical operational issues.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders at different levels.
  • Positive working attitude, adaptable to local culture and diverse ways of working.
  • Independent, yet collaborative team player with a focus on achieving cost-effective outcomes.
  • Committed to upholding integrity and compliance with company and industry best practices.
  • Can effectively communicate in both English and Mandarin, as the role is required to interact with internal stakeholders and suppliers located in China.
  • Experienced with e-Sourcing/ e-RFQ tools, e.g. SAP Ariba / IValua / Coupa etc.
  • Good knowledge of Incoterms, and Microsoft Office and spend analysis tools.
  • Graduate with good university degree, and possess minimum 3-5 years of procurement experience in the field of supporting process / manufacturing plant operations.
  • Must have direct experience in similar strategic function (supporting global manufacturing plant operations) or operational function working at the plant level
  • Experience in supervising or mentoring team members is an advantage.
