Full Description

We are looking for a candidate who will be responsible for conducting research on musculoskeletal injury risk and mitigating factors in various work environments, as well as design, implement, and evaluate exercise-based prehabilitation programmes to optimize human work performance through improvement of musculoskeletal health and prevention of work-related musculoskeletal disorders. The successful candidate will be part of an active research team led by Asst. Prof. Bryan Tan from Rehabilitation Research Institute of Singapore (RRIS).

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and conduct mixed-methods research on musculoskeletal health in occupational and community settings.
  • Design and implement cohort-wide studies using questionnaires, interviews, and real-time task observations.
  • Collect multimodal data via motion-capture, physiological, and environmental sensors.
  • Assess human performance capacities using multidomain outcome measures.
  • Analyse and interpret quantitative and qualitative data to generate actionable insights.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate exercise-based prehabilitation programmes.
  • Produce scientific reports, peer-reviewed publications, and practitioner-friendly guidelines.
  • Contribute to grant writing, stakeholder briefings, and knowledge translation.
  • Mentor junior staff and foster collaborative team culture.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Exercise Science, Physiotherapy, Kinesiology, Ergonomics, Occupational Health, or related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in mixed-methods research with sensor-based and qualitative approaches.
  • Strong skills in quantitative/qualitative analysis, ethics compliance, and data governance.
  • Proficiency in SPSS, Python, R, or MATLAB for data analysis and visualisation.
  • Experience in designing and evaluating exercise/prehabilitation programmes.
  • Track record of publications and ability to communicate findings to diverse audiences.
  • Willingness to travel and conduct fieldwork, including in environments involving motion (e.g., sea travel)
