Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI) is looking for a candidate to join them as a Research Fellow.
The Research Fellow is tasked with supporting the planning and execution of the project on the “Intelligent Modelling for Decision-making in Critical Urban Systems (Descartes). Reporting directly to the Principal Investigator, the Research Assistant must facilitate key administrative and management duties, including but not limited to conducting literature searches and manuscript preparation by performing systematic reviews of relevant scholarly work and assist in writing research manuscripts. The Research Fellow plays a key role in experiment conceptualization, design and implementing by developing research protocols, design experiments (e.g., lab or online studies), recruit participants, and collect data. The Research Fellow is responsible for data analysis by analyzing experimental data using appropriate statistical tools (e.g., SPSS, R) and interpret findings; prepare materials for presentations at workshops and conferences and contribute to journal articles, conference proceedings, and other academic outputs.
Key Responsibilities:
Keeping track of expenditure and remaining budget in an organized manner, ensuring that the spend is optimized and on track with respect to goals set for the grant
Liaising with external vendors to purchase necessary equipment/materials for research studies, including specialized equipment, software, and research participant incentives
Lead the recruitment of participants for experiment sessions and focus groups
Manage students and Project Officers in conducting literature reviews
Plan the necessary logistics, for the administration of experiments and focus group sessions, such as scheduling, booking facilities, and preparing IRB documentation
Participate in the data collection process for both qualitative (e.g. interviews, focus group sessions) and quantitative (e.g. experiments, surveys) studies
Analyze data for various projects using tools such as SPSS, R, and/or Microsoft Excel
Prepare presentations, as well as other research-related documents
Draft conference and journal submissions based on research findings
Job Requirements:
PhD degree in Communication, Psychology, Sociology, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related social science discipline
Good project management skills, with multi-tasking ability
Academic writing skills required
Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and analysing experiments (e.g., lab studies, online experiments)
Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R) with strong quantitative analysis skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multicultural, interdisciplinary environment; excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Prior involvement in research projects, evidence of publishing in peer-reviewed journals or presenting at conferences is desirable
