Established in 1992, the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI) is the only full-fledged communication and information school in Singapore. We are looking for a Research Fellow to contribute to an ongoing research project about Artificial Intelligence (AI) for mental health, exploring how AI systems shape and mediate social and emotional wellbeing. The RF is instrumental in facilitating the key research activities and producing the research outputs.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and conduct research on the socio-emotional impacts of AI systems, and evaluating and benchmarking large language models (LLMs) in emotional contexts.
Publish and present research in top-tier HCI, communication, and interdisciplinary venues, and contribute to open resources or toolkits for academic and public audiences.
Mentor and collaborate with students and interdisciplinary team members, and build partnerships with external stakeholders such as community organizations or industry.
Support lab development, including organizing research activities, managing projects, and contributing to grant proposals.
Job Requirements:
PhD degree in communication, psychology, sociology, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), information science, or related fields.
Prior experience and proficiency in working with large language models including programming, evaluating, and benchmarking, evaluating.
Demonstrated skills in quantitative research methods (e.g. survey, experiment), statistical analysis (e.g. regression, multilevel modeling, SEM), and computational techniques (e.g., NLP, data mining).
Proven track record with publications in reputable social science or HCI journals and conference proceedings.
Ability to work in collaborative and interdisciplinary teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and project management skills.
Creativity, independence, and initiative to drive new research directions.
