The Singapore Centre for 3D Printing (SC3DP) is a research centre conducting fundamental and applied research in all aspects related to additive manufacturing. Our vision is to be the world leader in 3D Printing and a wellspring of knowledge, delivering state of the art and innovative solutions to the industry. SC3DP is at the forefront of developing advanced technologies and high-impact research in areas such biomedical, construction, aerospace, marine and offshore. It is one of the very few research centres globally with multi-sector 3D printing expertise. SC3DP’s research achievements, high-level industry collaboration, comprehensive facilities and resources have positioned it as a leading hub for 3D printing research and innovation globally.
We are seeking a highly motivated Project Officer to develop an advanced perfusable bioreactor system designed for the maturation of 3D bioprinted in vitro pancreas model with embedded vascular channels or networks. This role directly contributes to cutting-edge research in biomanufacturing, tissue engineering, and functional organ-scale pancreas model development.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and fabricate a perfusable bioreactor prototype, including flow chambers, perfusion loops, and modular components.
Conduct mechanical, flow, and cell-compatibility experiments to validate bioreactor performance.
Integrate sensors, pumps, and control modules to support long-term tissue maturation.
Assist in experimental setup, data collection, and documentation of results.
Preparation of provisional patents and technical disclosures.
Candidates with ability to translate technical concepts into intellectual property will be preferred.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or above in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
Strong knowledge on Computer-aided design (CAD). biomanufacturing, tissue engineering, bioreactors design and electro-active/piezoelectric scaffolds
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment.
Good communications skills
Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
