As the Managing Director, Regional Head of the Systems Planning Department, you will play a crucial role in shaping and executing the IT strategy for MUFG across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. This position is pivotal in driving the strategic vision and ensuring the alignment of IT initiatives with the overall business objectives. You will lead the Systems Planning Department, overseeing the development and implementation of high-level IT strategies, policies, and frameworks that support the bank's growth and operational efficiency.
Reporting directly to the CIO for APAC, you will collaborate with senior leadership and various stakeholders to ensure that IT strategies are effectively integrated into business plans, fostering innovation and driving the bank's digital transformation. Your role will encompass strategic planning, business relationship management, project management, and the optimization of IT investments to enhance business performance and resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute the regional systems planning strategy in alignment with business goals, global IT strategy, and regulatory requirements. Provide top-level direction and vision for the IT landscape in the APAC region.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with business partners, ensuring that IT initiatives meet business needs and drive value. Act as a key liaison between IT and business units to align technology solutions with business strategies.
Lead the Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure successful delivery of IT projects, aligning them with business priorities and ensuring adherence to project management standards. Oversee the facilitation and support of system projects across the region.
Optimize the allocation of IT resources, including budget management, to support strategic objectives and operational efficiency. Manage the system investment budget allocation and utilization for the Asia and Oceania region.
Ensure the development and implementation of robust business continuity and disaster recovery plans to safeguard the bank's operations.
Manage administrative tasks for the department, including expense control and human resource management. Oversee the preparation of management materials and support for regional IT training programs.
Ensure adherence to local regulations and internal policies, maintaining robust governance frameworks. Coordinate with IT Risk Management and other departments to uphold IT governance standards.
To liaise and collaborate with stakeholders at the Tokyo Head Office to ensure effective integration of IT strategies into business plans, and present these strategies in Japanese during meetings and conferences.
Requirements:Minimum of 15 years of experience in IT systems planning and technology, in the financial industry.
Experience in systems planning and emerging technologies, in business relationship management, project management, and IT investment planning.
Minimum JLPT N1 Certification (or equivalent business-level Japanese proficiency) with demonstrated experience communicating with Japanese stakeholders and senior management, including acting as a key point of contact across Tokyo Head Office and APAC.
Comprehensive understanding of business strategies and challenges, with the ability to align IT initiatives with business goals.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to manage and inspire a diverse team in a complex and dynamic environment.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels and present complex technical concepts clearly.
Proven ability to plan and execute enterprise-level changes, with a deep understanding of enterprise architecture and industry trends.
