Full Description
To have the market presence and respect in the line of business underwritten in order to develop further that line of business within agreed business plan parameters. To adhere to the underwriting authority granted. To focus on delivering the agreed combined loss ratio target.
- To assist in the continued development of Markel in SEA and rest of Asia, with a particular focus on the profitable development of International Casualty.
- Build and develop strong relationships with new and existing brokers, other distribution partners and clients. Maintain and regularly update a broker/customer engagement plan for a portfolio of brokers and use this to drive quote requests and conversion.
- Manage a portfolio of risks (including the underwriting of new risks), understand the principles of technical rating engines and monitor portfolio rate adequacy according to Markel’s underwriting principles in line with authority limits
- Use analytical skills to enhance Markel’s underwriting capabilities (e.g. loss performance and underwriting efficiency), support the analysis of portfolio data and act upon those findings.
- Navigate the complexities of drafting/amending wordings.
- Contribute to the business planning process for the casualty portfolio in Asia, as well as support the planning and strategic development of Markel across the region.
- Build cedant relationships in SEA and become established as a market leader for casualty facultative reinsurance in SEA and rest of Asia
- Develop fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to support the achievement of goals and the development of Markel in SEA
- To support the development and execution of Markel’s wider strategy in Asia
- Build and maintain strong working relationships within Markel, particularly with London and Asia Pac casualty teams
