Full Description

We are looking for a Senior AI Researcher to join our AI Centre of Excellence at Manulife Asia, based in Singapore. The focus will be on pioneering insurance-related research in collaboration with academic and industry partners, building prototypes and proof of concepts (POCs) for insurance use cases, and publishing technical papers and blogs about Manulife's innovative work in AI. As the champion of AI for Manulife, you will leverage your deep domain expertise to advance our AI capabilities and influence the future of insurance technology.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborative Research: Work with academic and industry partners to identify and execute research projects that push the boundaries of AI in the insurance sector.
  • Prototype Development: Develop prototypes and POCs utilizing state-of-the-art AI research work to address key challenges in insurance, with a focus on enhancing customer experience, underwriting, and claims processing.
  • Publication and Thought Leadership: Author technical papers and blogs to document and share Manulife's work in AI, contributing to both internal knowledge and external thought leadership in the field.
  • AI Advocacy: Serve as a champion of AI within Manulife, promoting AI literacy and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance to teams, ensuring alignment with cutting-edge AI research and best practices.
  • Innovation and Impact: Stay updated on industry trends and AI advancements to continuously drive innovation and impact within Manulife’s AI initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field, with a strong academic or professional focus on AI research.
  • At least 6 years of experience in AI research, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with academic and industry partners.
  • Proficiency in machine learning and AI technologies, particularly those relevant to insurance use cases. Advanced skills in programming languages such as Python, R, and familiarity with AI research tools and platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively conveying complex AI concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Previous experience in the insurance industry is highly desirable, particularly in roles involving AI-driven analytics and solution development.
  • Experience in leading research initiatives and mentoring teams, with a proven track record of collaboration across multifunctional teams.
