Head of Commercial Operations, JAPAC
Role Overview
The Head of Commercial Operations, JAPAC, will serve as a strategic partner to the Head of JAPAC and a key member of the regional leadership team. This role is responsible for driving commercial excellence, shaping operational governance, and strengthening launch readiness and cross‑functional capabilities across the JAPAC region. The successful candidate will enable high‑quality decision‑making, ensure strong performance management, and support partner markets to deliver consistent, scalable and sustainable business impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop commercial operations across JAPAC, including business intelligence, performance tracking, systems, tools, and cross‑functional governance.
- Act as a senior strategic advisor, contributing to regional business planning, prioritisation, and execution of high‑impact initiatives.
- Drive insights‑led decision‑making across the region by overseeing analytics, forecasting, CRM utilisation (Veeva), and operational planning processes.
- Enhance commercial, medical and market access capability building, ensuring alignment with global strategies and regional needs.
- Shape and continuously refine regional governance (business reviews, launch readiness, RACI frameworks, ways of working).
- Represent the Head of JAPAC in selected internal and external engagements, ensuring strong communication and alignment across geographies.
- Partner closely with Finance on budget, resource planning and operational optimisation.
- Ensure adherence to Ipsen’s ethical standards, financial controls, SOPs, and compliance expectations.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry, ideally including senior commercial, sales & marketing, finance or head‑of‑function roles.
- Proven experience operating in complex, matrixed and global environments.
- Strong understanding of commercial operations, business analytics, change management and performance governance.
- Exceptional influencing, communication and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity, navigate complexity, and drive cross‑functional execution.
- Highly analytical, data‑driven, and comfortable with operational detail while maintaining strategic oversight.
- Hands‑on leadership style, with strong intellectual curiosity and resilience.
- Fluent English required; advanced degree in business or life sciences preferred.
