The Asia Pacific (APAC) Sub-Region contributes significantly to this ambition, generating £2 billion in revenue across high-potential markets and established hubs. The sub-region includes Australia, India, Vietnam, South Korea, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong & Macao, and Taiwan, with a commercial headcount of approximately 4,800 employees. This region offers opportunities for synergy, capability building, and launch scale-up due to shared regulatory frameworks, access pathways, and commercial structures.
The HRBL APAC Sub-Region role is a senior business leadership position that partners with the APAC Sub-Region Head and Country General Managers to deliver GSK’s growth ambition. Reporting to the VP HR International Region, this role drives strategic HR priorities focused on Talent, Leadership, Capability, and Culture, ensuring GSK remains competitive, resilient, and an employer of choice across the region.
Position Summary
The HRBL APAC Sub-Region provides strategic HR leadership for a complex and diverse portfolio of markets. This role focuses on enabling sustainable business performance, organizational agility, and future-ready workforce capability through tailored HR solutions aligned with GSK’s enterprise-wide people priorities.
As a key member of the International HR Leadership Team, the HRBL drives talent development, capability building, change management, and governance initiatives while fostering a high-performance, inclusive culture.
Key Responsibilities
Talent & Leadership: Shape and deliver robust succession pipelines for business-critical and senior leadership roles across the sub-region. Accelerate the development of diverse future leaders and enable cross-border mobility aligned with International Region talent priorities.
Capability & Workforce Development: Build organizational agility and workforce readiness through reskilling and upskilling initiatives, particularly supporting portfolio shifts toward Specialty and Oncology. Partner with global HR teams to deploy new learning platforms, digital solutions, and future-fit workforce strategies.
Culture & Engagement: Role model and embed GSK’s values and expectations, fostering a high-performance, inclusive, and innovative culture. Engage and inspire HR and business leaders to enhance resilience, employee engagement, and sustainable talent experiences.
Change & Transformation: Lead the HR dimension of business and organizational transformation in the sub-region, ensuring engagement, retention, and smooth transition during structural or strategic change. Partner with business leaders to implement fit-for-purpose organizational models that drive efficiency, accountability, and growth.
Governance & Risk Management: Serve as HRBL for the sub-region with oversight on employment law, labor relations, and risk/crisis management. Ensure compliance and consistent HR standards across diverse regulatory and cultural environments while enabling flexibility for local execution.
Performance Metrics: Enable a performance-driven culture with clear metrics and business improvements embedded into HR processes. Drive accountability and measure outcomes to demonstrate the value of HR initiatives.
Qualifications/Skills
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline.
Proven track record of leading HR strategy at a global or regional scale, managing diverse labor and cultural dynamics.
Demonstrated success in driving large-scale organizational transformation (e.g., region restructuring, portfolio shifts, digital adoption) while sustaining business performance.
Strong business acumen with the ability to translate commercial priorities into people strategies that drive measurable growth.
Enterprise leadership capability to balance global alignment with local agility, influencing and shaping decisions across a matrixed structure.
Experience in developing senior leadership pipelines and building future-ready workforce capabilities critical for Specialty and Oncology growth.
Resilience and agility to manage ambiguity, balance short-term delivery with long-term value creation, and engage stakeholders across geographies and functions.
Strong consultation and communication skills, with the ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders and build trust at the highest levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
Postgraduate degree in Human Resources or a related discipline (e.g., MBA).
Proven expertise in organizational design, talent planning, and workforce capability development.
Experience in evaluating and effectively communicating evidence-based HR strategies.
Track record of fostering inclusion and diversity across international markets.
Work Arrangement
This role requires on-site presence with occasional travel across the APAC Sub-Region and International Region.
