Technical Specialist for CNC machining and EDM

Job Description

 Role Summary/Purpose

The Technical Specialist – Machining supports the machining domain in the qualification, industrialization, and sustainment of CNC machining and EDM processes for gas turbine component repair.
This role focuses on hands-on technical support, troubleshooting, technician capability development, and operational excellence. The specialist works closely with Machining Engineers, Operations, Quality, and external suppliers to ensure stable, compliant, and efficient machining processes that meet SQDC objectives.

Essential Responsibilities :

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist in process qualification and industrialization of CNC machining and EDM processes.

  • Support co-qualification activities, including FPQ and PLQ readiness.

  • Troubleshoot machining issues on the shop floor and support root cause and corrective actions.

  • Support technician training and skill development for machining processes and equipment.

  • Ensure full compliance with EHS, Life Saving Rules, and quality requirements.

  • Maintain and support machining work instructions, setup sheets, and process documentation.

  • Interface with other departments and suppliers to resolve technical or operational issues.

  • Participate in cycle time, cost, productivity, and delivery improvement initiatives

  • Support continuous improvement and operational excellence activities within the machining domain.

  • Carry out other duties as assigned to support machining operations and business needs.

Qualifications/Requirements :

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent   

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience

  • Good interpersonal, communication and influencing skills

  • Experience in Lean would be advantageous
