This role provides engineering support for developing, qualifying, and sustaining advanced surface treatment and finishing methods used on high-performance aerospace engine components. The special process engineer shall troubleshoot issues that arise in day-to-day operations, establish robust process controls, lead qualifications and audits, drive continuous improvement and introduction of new processes, and demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in repair activities, and contribute to the overall business strategy.Job Description

Role Overview:
The Special Process Engineer (Surface Preparation and Finishing) is responsible for ensuring that the advanced surface preparation and finishing processes (such as, but not limited to, chemical/ electrochemical/ sonochemical cleaning, stripping, etching, plating, grit blasting, and painting) meet safety, quality, and operational requirements and objectives at GEAES Singapore. This will include:
Generating work instructions and operating procedures for process preparation and application.
Conducting Risk Assessments and ensure that surface preparation and finishing processes are operated in compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety Regulations and Policies.
Ensuring that all surface preparation and finishing processes comply with quality requirements, conduct investigations and implement corrective actions as required.
Working with operations to improve equipment utilization and labour efficiency and reduce operating costs.
Working with operations and maintenance personnel to minimize equipment downtime.
Implementing new surface preparation and finishing processes in collaboration with design, manufacturing, quality, and repair development engineers.
Preparing technical specifications for the purchase and upgrading of surface preparation and finishing equipment as required.
Conduct buy-off, machine qualification and process substantiation as required.
Training for special process technicians
Ideal Candidate
The Ideal candidate shall have strong technical knowledge and problem-solving skills with hands-on experience as well as eagerness to learn and apply the technical knowledge in regulated manufacturing environment. The candidate shall also exhibit strong skills in project and time management, cross-functional teamwork, and continuous improvement with safety-first mindset.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, metallurgy, materials, or related science and engineering field from local or internationally accredited university.
3+ years’ experience in special processes for metallic surface modification, coatings/finishing, corrosion protection, adhesion, or materials processing industry within regulated manufacturing (preferably aerospace).
Fresh graduates with relevant internship experience and strong desire to learn will also be considered.
Good understanding of metallurgical and chemical processes used in the repair of aircraft engine components.
Foundational knowledge of metallic surface modification, coatings/finishing, corrosion protection, and adhesion.
Familiarity with basic statistics, data analysis, and lab/test methods.
Strong documentation, communication, and teamwork skills; eagerness to learn and hands-on in a regulated environment.
