The Head of Compliance will report to the General Counsel and lead the development and execution of a comprehensive compliance strategy across all regions where the company operates data center facilities. This executive will assist the organization in adhering to global and local regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Compliance Leadership
- Develop a global compliance framework tailored to the data center industry.
- Advise executive leadership and the board on emerging compliance risks and regulatory trends.
Regulatory & Industry Standards Oversight
- Monitor and interpret global regulations including environmental laws, energy usage standards, data protection (e.g., GDPR, PDPA), and cybersecurity mandates.
- Ensure compliance with certifications and standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, and Uptime Institute requirements.
Policy Development & Risk Mitigation
- Establish and maintain policies covering operational integrity, vendor compliance, physical security, and sustainability.
- Collaborate with legal, operations, HR and IT teams to assess and mitigate compliance risks across facilities and digital infrastructure.
Audit, Investigation & Reporting
- Assist with internal audits and regulatory inspections; manage responses and remediation plans.
- Lead investigations into compliance breaches and ensure timely reporting to relevant authorities.
Training & Culture Building
- Promote a culture of compliance and ethical conduct across all levels of the organization.
- Design and deliver training programs on regulatory obligations, data handling, and operational best practices.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulators, auditors, and industry bodies.
- Represent the company in compliance-related forums and working groups.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Law, Business, Engineering, or related field; legal or regulatory certification preferred.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory roles
- Experience in the data center, cloud infrastructure, or critical facilities sector.
- Strong knowledge of global data protection laws, environmental regulations and general internal policies.
- Exceptional communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience with global Compliance functions, including hyperscale or colocation data center operations.
- Familiarity with ESG reporting and sustainability compliance.
- Multilingual or cross-cultural experience in APAC, EMEA, and Americas regions.
