Job Description
Agilent Technologies is seeking a talented, creative, and dedicated R&D chemist to work in the development and verification of LC/MS products.
Primary responsibility includes:
- Operation of LC-triple quadrupole mass spectrometers
- Creating and executing design verification and design validation plans. You will create and run tests to verify that prototype designs meet sensitivity, speed, resolution and accuracy specifications.
- Preparing and analyzing samples. Our main goal is to support customers in a variety of markets, including food safety, environmental and pharmaceutical analysis. In this regard, we validate new designs by running customer workflows early in the product life cycle. This includes using a range of sample preparation methods such as solid phase extraction, liquid-liquid extraction, and protein precipitation among others.
- Processing and evaluating data. You will be using Agilent software to process and translate raw data into a format that allows drawing qualitative and quantitative conclusions.
- Maintaining LC/MS systems. As part of your daily job, you will prepare mobile phases, LC solvents and ensure that mass spectrometers are tuned and the LC/MS system ready to acquire data.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- PhD in chemistry with LC/MS experience.
- Knowledge operating and maintaining LC/MS instruments, performing LC/MS method development, and evaluating LC/MS data is a must.
- Hands-on attitude in developing and troubleshooting own work. Prepares samples needed for analysis. Performs instrument tuning and calibration.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be detail oriented and have excellent communication skills with ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to present results at technical meetings and/or publish in peer-reviewed journals.
Desired Qualifications:
- Previous experience operating triple quadrupole mass spectrometers.
- Previous experience operating Agilent mass spectrometers and MassHunter software tools is a plus.
- Experience with designing, building, and debugging experimental systems
- Computer modeling of optical systems
